The color you see is produced by the source, the filter, the illuminated surface and the observer. A screen preview is useful for discussion, but it cannot replace evaluation under the intended lighting conditions.
01
Dichroic color is wavelength selection
Thin-film coatings transmit some wavelengths and reflect others. Their appearance can change with viewing direction and working angle. A color code identifies a design reference; the result still depends on the source spectrum and fixture geometry.
02
Custom color begins with a target
Share a sample, desired color and source information. KUPO can analyze the required spectral response and develop a custom design around the application. Evaluate prototypes with the intended source before fixing the final color and transmission requirements.
03
GOBO controls the pattern
A GOBO shapes the projected image. Artwork detail, usable image diameter, fixture optics, projection distance and focus influence the result. Substrate and coating requirements must also suit the operating environment.
04
For the lighting designer
Review source spectrum, working angle, thermal conditions, fixture holder, beam distribution and the target surface. Spectral color correction and color-rendering performance are related but distinct: a visually pleasing tint does not by itself establish a color-rendering metric.
