Dual-window short-wave infrared filter (MBP-A49)

MBP-A49 is a multi-region spectral filter. The reference spectrum shows multiple high-transmission regions at approximately 990-1140 nm; 1333-1579 nm. Light from these bands passes through the same optic. Check every band against your light source and detector. To measure the bands separately, use alternating light sources or separate detection paths.

Optical performance

  • Measured wavelength range: 300-1800 nm. Performance outside this measured interval is not established by this curve.
  • Main band at half-peak transmission: Approximately 1324.1-1590 nm, giving a full width at half maximum (FWHM) of approximately 265.9 nm. This describes the main band only; other transmitted regions may remain.
  • Selected regions at or above 80% transmission: 990-1140 nm; 1333-1579 nm. Approximate measured intervals.
  • Selected regions at or below 5% transmission: 300-960 nm; 1170-1297 nm; 1625-1800 nm. Measured sample intervals; confirm the required blocking for your order.
  • Peak transmission: Approximately 99.6% at 1475 nm. Peak wavelength is not the same as a defined centre wavelength.
  • Average measured transmission, 800-965 nm: 0.703%. Calculated from the factory sample data.
  • Average measured transmission, 1185-1305 nm: 1.504%. Calculated from the factory sample data.
  • Average measured transmission, 1645-1800 nm: 0.384%. Calculated from the factory sample data.
  • Average measured transmission, 1010-1135 nm: 98.373%. Calculated from the factory sample data.
  • Average measured transmission, 1370-1570 nm: 98.983%. Calculated from the factory sample data.
  • Customization: We can customize stock and sample-book designs. Tell us the wavelength response, size and operating conditions you need.

These values come from the measured samples and help you choose a starting design. We will agree the final specification for your order. Custom versions have their own specifications and measured curves.

Applications to consider

  • Short-wave infrared material inspection: Consider the two transmitted regions for a source and infrared detector used in material-contrast experiments. Match the illumination and detector response to the confirmed band limits.
  • Multi-wavelength sensing: Evaluate sharing one optic between signals in the two short-wave infrared regions. Use source modulation or separate detection paths if independent channel readings are required.
  • Spectroscopy-window selection: Compare the transmitted windows with the actual feature and reference wavelengths required by the measurement. Confirm the intervening rejection before finalizing the optical design.

Choosing this filter

  • Additional regions reach at least 50% transmission at approximately 983-1147 nm. Include these in the detector and blocking assessment.
  • Check the full wavelength range of your light source, the wavelengths your detector responds to, and how much unwanted light you need to block. Use the full curve when choosing a filter; the product code and peak do not tell the whole story.
  • Tell us the angle at which light reaches the filter and whether the beam is parallel or converging. For demanding rejection or high-power use, confirm the required blocking and power-handling specifications.

Custom options

Start with this stock or sample-book design, then tell us what you need to change. We can discuss the wavelength bands, transmission, blocking, angle, glass material, size and operating conditions with you, and agree a specification for your custom filter.

Questions about MBP-A49

Where does MBP-A49 transmit at least 80% in the measured curve?

The measured regions at or above 80% transmission are 990-1140 nm; 1333-1579 nm. They are measured intervals, not guaranteed passband tolerances. Compare the full curve with the signal wavelengths you need to retain.

Could MBP-A49 pass light outside its main band?

For MBP-A49, additional regions reach at least 50% transmission at approximately 983-1147 nm. If your detector responds there, include that light in the background assessment or discuss an additional blocking requirement.
